Public sector
Built for visitors, secure areas and after-hours use
Government and council buildings have to work for staff and for members of the public who do not know the layout. Some areas are secure. Some buildings are used after hours for meetings, classes or community events.
CMG has drawn diagrams for the Department of Education, a health service, courthouses in Albany and Narrogin, the City of Fremantle, the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, Whiteman Park and TAFE campuses. Public sector employers have duties under the WHS (General) Regulations 2022 (WA), including an emergency plan, and clear diagrams support it. Every drawing is kept on file for the next review.
- Diagrams first-time visitors can follow
- Secure areas and restricted access considered
- Routes that work after hours as well as by day
- One consistent standard across many sites
- Clear written quotes for procurement

What clients say
In their words
Rated 4.9 stars from 85 Google reviews.
We had Craig from CMG attend our facility to deliver Fire Warden training. This is the second time I attended the course, and it never gets old. Craig is extremely professional and knowledgeable. The equipment used to deliver the training is as close as the real thing. I feel that we are in a much better place to deal with an incident if one occurs. I would recommend approaching Craig and his team for training.
Craig from CMG Fire and Safety Services was engaged to provide emergency evacuation diagrams for our three leased sites. CMG Fire and Safety Services was also contracted to provide fire extinguisher training for staff at each of these sites. The process was professional and the evacuation diagrams are of a high quality.
Straight forward and informative for real-world application. Good balance between theory for understanding and practical use of equipment. Craig was personable and very interactive with our audience of wardens.
Interactive self-check
Is your evacuation diagram still compliant?
Six quick checks based on AS 3745-2010 and what Craig sees most often on WA sites.
Does every diagram have a "You Are Here" point that matches where it is mounted?AS 3745-2010 requires the diagram to be oriented to the viewer's position.
Are all current exits and paths of travel shown, with nothing that no longer exists?Blocked, locked or removed doors are the most common failure.
Is the assembly area shown correctly, including any temporary changes?Construction, transportables and new fencing often move it.
Is every extinguisher, hose reel, blanket and alarm point shown where it actually is?Equipment gets relocated during fit-outs and services.
Has the building changed since the diagram was issued?Extensions, new rooms, demountables or a changed use of space.
Is the diagram legible, with a legend, and mounted at the right height?Faded prints and missing legends are non-compliant.
Answer the six checks above
Takes under a minute. We will tell you plainly whether your diagrams are likely to stand up.

Common questions
Straight answers grounded in AS 3745-2010 and WA workplace legislation. Anything else, call Craig.
Do government workplaces in WA need an emergency plan?
Yes. The WHS (General) Regulations 2022 (WA) require an emergency plan for a workplace. AS 3745-2010 sets out how to prepare it, including evacuation diagrams. Clear diagrams help staff and visitors act on the plan, and show your duty has been taken seriously.
Can you keep a consistent standard across all our sites?
Yes. Whether you have two sites or twenty, every diagram follows the same layout, symbols and legend. That makes it easier for staff who move between sites, and simpler for you to check and approve. All drawings stay on file for future updates.
How do you handle secure areas and restricted access?
We work with your facilities and security contacts before drawing. Diagrams show the exits and paths of travel people need, placed where they are needed, without exposing detail that should stay restricted. Courthouses and similar sites often need this extra care.
Our building is used after hours. Does that change anything?
It can. Community meetings, classes and events often bring in people who do not know the building, sometimes with fewer staff on hand. We check that the routes and assembly area on the diagrams still make sense after hours and in the parts of the building used then.
How often do our evacuation diagrams need reviewing?
AS 3745-2010 asks your Emergency Planning Committee to set a validity period, and the note in the standard says it should not exceed five years. Craig’s advice is to review at least every five years, and straight away after any refit, change of use or new building.
Can you provide a formal quote for procurement?
Yes. We provide clear written quotes that set out the sites, the number of diagrams and what is included, so they are easy to process through your purchasing system. Call 1300 355 686 or request a quote online.
