How the review works
A desktop review first, a site visit only if it is needed
Send Craig a photo of each diagram, or your existing files and floor plans if you have them. He compares them against AS 3745-2010 and the way the standard is applied in WA, and against what you tell him has changed on site.
You get a plain-English summary: which diagrams still stand up, which need an update and why. If diagrams need updating, CMG quotes the update only. Because CMG holds the drawings for most of the schools it has worked with, updates are usually quick and do not need a full re-survey.
- You Are Here point and orientation checked for every location
- Exits, paths of travel and assembly area verified against the current site
- Fire equipment, legend, validity date and legibility checked
- Written findings you can file for WorkSafe WA and insurers
- Updated diagrams re-issued as prints, framed displays or PDFs

Interactive self-check
Is your evacuation diagram still compliant?
Six quick checks based on AS 3745-2010 and what Craig sees most often on WA sites.
Does every diagram have a "You Are Here" point that matches where it is mounted?AS 3745-2010 requires the diagram to be oriented to the viewer's position.
Are all current exits and paths of travel shown, with nothing that no longer exists?Blocked, locked or removed doors are the most common failure.
Is the assembly area shown correctly, including any temporary changes?Construction, transportables and new fencing often move it.
Is every extinguisher, hose reel, blanket and alarm point shown where it actually is?Equipment gets relocated during fit-outs and services.
Has the building changed since the diagram was issued?Extensions, new rooms, demountables or a changed use of space.
Is the diagram legible, with a legend, and mounted at the right height?Faded prints and missing legends are non-compliant.
Answer the six checks above
Takes under a minute. We will tell you plainly whether your diagrams are likely to stand up.

Review questions
Straight answers grounded in AS 3745-2010 and WA workplace legislation. Anything else, call Craig.
Do evacuation diagrams have to be updated every five years in WA?
At least every five years, and sooner whenever things change. AS 3745-2010 asks your Emergency Planning Committee to set a validity period for the emergency plan and diagrams, and notes it should not exceed five years. Diagrams must also be updated whenever the building, exits, equipment or assembly area change. Craig recommends a quick check alongside your yearly evacuation drill.
What does the review include?
A desktop review of the diagrams you send, compared against AS 3745-2010 and the changes you describe on site. You receive written findings. It is a diagram review only, not a full fire safety audit. WA schools can currently claim this as a complimentary review through the WASBPA 2026 offer.
Do you need to visit the site?
Usually not for the review. If findings suggest the floor plan itself has changed, Craig will recommend an on-site verification before new diagrams are issued, and quotes that separately.
Can you update diagrams another company produced?
Yes. CMG can redraw any diagram to AS 3745-2010 from your floor plans or a site measure-up.
